Are you the Cycle Breaker?

Are you one of the Superheroes of healing?
2

I used to think of a calling and purpose in a one-dimensional way: something specifically to do with a job and a way to earn money. It can be that, but it’s a narrow and limiting way to think; I’ve come to realize we actually have many callings in life.

I believe the biggest calling is to harness the bravery and courage to be our unique selves in a world that continually wants to put us in a box and “behave” (ie: be generic, don’t complain, work hard, and don’t ask questions). An old dysfunctional saying that comes to mind is, “you get what you get, and you don’t get upset.” Ugh. No. Thank you.

Tricia Hersey is one of my favorite voices for support with releasing the need to seek permission for rest, and how dangerous burn out is. Not only for our bodies, our creativity, our life force, our families, but for all of us collectively, because it perpetuates an extractive way of living, and benefits only those set up to win. If that sounds resonate, check out her book “Rest is Resistance”.

There’s another kind of a calling: Cycle Breaker.

I noticed a pattern in clients over the years: people craving authenticity, suffering burn-out, people pleasers wanting to be nice and good. They shared they felt shame, guilt, anxiety, and depression symptoms. They were asking great questions like, “what is my purpose?”

These were people waking up: people not wanting to perpetuate the stories told by the generations that came before them. Their wake up calls varied. Some had become parents, some had started a business, some had a health scare. Whatever event(s) were occurring, they were all asking, “is there a better way? What are my choices here? How much of this story is mine, and how much did I inherit?”

With awareness comes choice.

With choice comes change.

Being Cycle Breaker is an honor and a calling. Would you agree? We’re called in to change the trajectory of our family line. It doesn’t need to be a burden to carry alone in isolation. There’s also immense healing in finding the support and people you need to journey through. There’s healing in recognizing the privilege and releasing the resentment that sometimes shows up.

It’s a win-win for us all, but it’s not easy. No one said easy. Important, eye-opening, transformative, revolutionary. Those things are not easy, which is why it’s tasked to the brave, courageous, the Superheroes of healing. Are you one?
